Visceral Adipose Tissue (VAT) scan

Visceral adipose tissue is a single slice super-low dose CT image of the abdomen which enables our specialist radiologists to be able to differentiate the highly damaging visceral fat from subcutaneous fat. This new VAT scan technology increases our understanding of cardiovascular and cancer risk above and beyond the standard techniques for measuring fat which include body mass index and waist: height ratio. Modern therapies are able to target visceral fat and the improvement and reduction of visceral fat can also be measured to ensure adequate therapeutic goals are being met.

Glucose Monitoring

Ambulatory glucose monitoring has become an extremely useful tool for understanding the potential damage sudden variations in our blood glucose can pose to our vascular system. Modern lifestyles and diets have resulted in possible episodes of high vascular oxidative stress caused by these variations in blood glucose levels which are not detected on standard random blood sugar testing or the conventional HbA1c blood sugar testing. Pairing food diet with ambulatory glucose monitoring gives vital insight into how we can adjust our dietary intake to optimise our metabolic health and reduce subsequent vascular risk.
